Auditions

Please note: our Summer 2008 productions of Grease and Dream Girls have been cancelled in part because the Grand Sierra Resort will soon be taking down the tent we intended to use for the productions.

Anyone wishing to be a part of one of our productions must both audition, and sign a contract agreeing to abide by the rules of the Company for the duration of the production. Everyone auditioning must be at least 8 years old as of the date of his/her audition. We require age verification for 8-15 year old auditioners who are new to the company, so if you have never been in a Tahoe Players production, be prepared to provide proof of your age. You will not be allowed to audition without it.

Auditions for our Fall 2008 production of Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka! will be held in August 2008. Auditions will be announced in all the local newspapers as well as by a direct mailer to our former cast members. Audition packets will be mailed to former cast members in July 2008, and will include a newsletter, production calendar and an audition form. Anyone who had been a part of one of our casts for either of the past 2 years will automatically receive a packet. The audition schedule for Roald Dahl's Willy Wonka! will be:

How All of Our Auditions are Conducted

Everyone must audition individually, in person, and must bring a current photo of himself/herself. No one may audition without a photo, and please, no photos larger than 3" x 5". A snapshot or school photo is fine; just make sure it is a close-up and clear picture of your face, and that you look pretty much like you do in "real life" (no heavy makeup, "character," or "glamour" photos, please. The photo is simply for identification). If there are other people in the photo, you'll need to circle yourself so we'll know who you are. Costumes and props should not be brought to the audition. We will not accept video auditions.

Audition times are grouped by age, and you must audition at the appropriate time and with your age group only (even if your parents have to bring you and your siblings at different times or even on different days). We do not hold any alternate auditions, so please don't ask.

For your convenience, we can pre-assign audition times for people who mail-in their completed audition form, photo and proof of age in advance, however we cannot assign an audition time unless we have your complete paperwork (including photo & proof of age, if required). If you have a need for a specific audition time (within the 3-4 hours allotted to your age group), please indicate this along with your audition form and be specific as to what you need and why. We will schedule you for the closest available time that will accommodate your needs. We cannot schedule you for a time outside of your age group.

All you need to prepare for your audition is an a cappella vocal number of approximately 1 minute (16 bars of music). You should not plan to perform any music from any version of the show we are auditioning. In addition to your prepared vocal number, your audition will consist of a 1 minute "cold read," and a brief dance number that you will be taught at the audition.

Casting results will be announced 8-10 days after the auditions. Results will be announced by telephone for Principal roles, and via this website for Chorus roles.
