Ballet 5 - Beginning Pointe Class |
|
This class is for those 12+ who are finding their "sea legs" after Pre-Pointe and ready to dive into the new exciting ocean of pointe work. This class is structured entirely on wellness and strength of the body and mind. Students wishing to be en pointe must display fluency with Ballet terminology and history as well as the physical ability to dance en pointe. There is no guarantee that every student in the ballet program will be asked to to begin to dance en pointe as it simply is not for everyone. The only way to be 100% sure that it is safe for your young dancer to begin pointe is to schedule an appointment with a physical therapist or orthopedic Dr. who has experience working with ballet dancers. Choosing just any medical professional is not helpful as ballet dancers are built and worked in such a way that is considered abnormal to a "normal" physician. A medical professional who works with ballet dancers will be able to effectively communicate to the patient in ballet terminology so as to observe the subjects exact range of motion, strengths, and weaknesses. Incline village physical therapy does have one such medical professional.
All young dancers at this level fluctuate in ability levels a dancer could spend 1-4 years in this class before they begin to learn Pointe variations. The amout of time a dance spends in this class depend strictly on the individuals ability not on age. All ballet dress code rules apply for this class leotard color is Black.
